Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my Driver's licence?

  • Under the NSW licensing scheme, you need to log at least 120 hours driving experience, including 20 hours of night driving to qualify for a driving test. The driving test is a practical, on-road test that you take with a Service NSW testing officer. It focuses on hazard perception and has been designed for learners with extensive driving experience.

Do I need formal driving lessons to get my Ps?

  • No. But for every 1 hour of structured driving lesson you complete with a licenced Driving Instructor, you can record 3 hours driving experience in your log book! For more information on Learner driver requirements, visit the Roads and Maritime Services website.

How long does a lesson go for?

  • A normal lesson goes for 1 hour and your Instructor will pick you up and drop you off at your location. You can also choose to have a double length session.

I've been practicing my own circuit close to where I'll be taking my driving test. Am I able to practice in my local area?

  • Of course. One of the convenient things about choosing Thrive 2 Drive Driving School is that we'll come to you! However, our qualified driving instructor has also had experience conducting RTA/RMS driving tests all over Sydney.

Will you be there on the day of my test?

  • You are definitely able to arrange for a pre-test practice run. Remember to bring your log book!
